What is Midnight-Sunlight?
Midnight-Sunlight is a name for the web design business begun by a resident of Alaska since 1980. Born during a time when his father's employment had him traveling all over the world, he had visited every state in the US before the age of 9. Accustom to always being on the move, he traveled to all but two provinces in Canada, lived in Iceland, Scotland and Korea, then returned to Alaska in an effort to make it home.
At the end of his under graduate work in Elementary Education he began graduate studies with research taking him to Korea for eleven years. During those eleven years he discovered that his web design skills were useful for developing web based lesson plans. Later, school directors discovered his skill with web site design which prompted them to enlist his abilities to design large web sites for academic businesses.
During the many years in Korea, he made and deployed many business web sites tailored to the needs of the academic community. These web pages that he built were in two categories, those aimed at ephemeral recruiting efforts and those built to represent large educational institutions.
What Makes Midnight-Sunlight Unique?
The primary difference between Midnight-Sunlight and other web design companies is found in the motive and methodologies directing the designer. Personal life experiences come into play with whatever he does. His extensive travels, training and up bringing as an artist and a scientist have allowed him to merge scientific skills with art in the medium of computer based networking and communication.
He holds an advanced class license as an Alaskan amateur radio operator (AL7MI) which allowed him to become familiar with data based communication long before the Internet was accessible to the public. He was sending e-mail around the world via HF and VHF radio transmissions before people had even heard of e-mail.
The blending of his international skills allows him to design web pages that currently see publication in Asian countries built and designed using native languages as in English speaking countries. It's just one of the aspects of this company that sets it apart form others.
The designer sees web page building as an artistic outlet and a way to meet peoples needs for building a web presence in this rapidly developing communication network that he helped pioneer through the experimental hobby of amateur radio communication. Back when people were just beginning to enjoy color television, amateur radio enthusiasts twere bouncing signals off the moon.
Another factor that sets Midnight-Sunlight apart from the rest of the world is company location; originating at 65 degrees north latitude where the midnight sun shines across the top of his computer monitor, Midnight-Sunlight now enjoys living and working in the world as a planetary home base. Without the ties of family demands, the designer has loosed the bonds of localized operation and takes advantage of the multi-location operating framework of the world as a place to live and work as much as air travel and friendship networking allow him to serve from just about any location.
